Prickly Moses Handcrafted Beer

Est. (2007) OPENING HOURS Mon-Thurs , take aways available Friday - Sunday 11am - 5pm ( Light lunch available) ABOUT At Prickly Moses, we strive to hand craft the best beer possible. We create beers to match an appearance, aroma and flavour profile - not a budget - so we use only the highest quality ingredients. Made by real, hands-on brewers, all the beers are naturally fermented and contain no preservatives or artificial colouring. Our brewery is located in the pristine natural environment of the Otways in south western Victoria, where we’re blessed with the purest of rainwater. The Otways inspire us to produce beer in an environmentally responsible way, so we’ve implemented a number of green initiatives at the brewery to lessen our footprint. We’re proud to be a small, independent brewery that’s passionate about making beer. Our repertoire of recipes continuously grows and we’re always keen to try something new. We hope you enjoy drinking our beer as much as we enjoy brewing it for you! BAR Our tasting bar at Otway Estate Winery & Brewery has 10 different taps offering a range of different styles to sample, including our forbidden fruit cider range. You can also visit the Great Ocean Road Brewhouse in Apollo Bay or the Queenscliff Brewhouse in Queenscliff to taste the full range of Prickly Moses handcrafted beers and Forbidden Fruit Ciders. ACCOMMODATION We have three self contained spa cottages onsite. Details about our rates can be found via this link

A hop driven beer in every way, hops are added throughout the entire brewing process from the mash tun to the kettle and even the fermenter. The classic "Three C's" combination of Centennial, Chinook and Cascade hops balance the caramelised malt profile in a way sure to give you a story with a happy ending. (6.4%) Tailpipe Ale This big brown ale, like a classic 1950’s American automobile is bold, brash and great to look at yet totally inappropriate for modern times. This beer is fully loaded with German Pilsner Malt and a selection of roasted malts. Aggressively hopped, this beer is not your daily drive – it’s a beer to take out for a spin when you want to show off to your mates. (7.1%) Black Panther IBA Inspired by the mysterious legend of big black cats that roam the Victorian bush, this beer is an India Black Ale. Like an India Pale Ale, Black Panther IBA is a full bodied beer that’s rich in hop bitterness. A generous addition of North American hops both in the boil and in the fermenter impart a strong citrus aroma. Caramelised black malt imparts a subtle burnt flavour to this rare beer. Savour now. Available: Winter (6.2%)

RECENT REVIEWS Reviewed 21 January 2018 via mobile Great beer! We dropped in on our food, beer and wine tour of southern Victoria and discovered a great beer in the spotted ale! Friendly staff too so a nice little stop in! Date of experience: January 2018 Reviewed 15 January 2018 Great beer and even better staff Me and two friends were doing a bit of brewery hopping around the area and stopped in at Prickly Moses for our final stop and it was by far the best. It was late in the day, about 4.30pm and there were only a couple of other people. We each grabbed a tasting paddle and the staff gave excellent insight into the beers on offer, as well as putting a few jokes into the description and were just friendly in general. The paddles are very reasonably priced when compared to other craft breweries in the area. We took our tasting paddles out the back to sit outside by the little water catchment and got into them, we all enjoyed every beer. While we were outside, one of the employees was taking a break and was all too happy to have a chat about the beers as we drank them with a lot of passion behind his comments. Overall it is a great little area to drive through, a great place to stop for some delicious local beers made by passionate people. We can't thank the staff enough for providing such a great experience.
